| Fantasy Sports Website Reviews |
If you want to play fantasy sports online, and use the internet to get the information that's going to help you win,
there are only too many websites around that you can use. The problem - as with many things on the web - is that it's very hard to separate the
wheat from the chaff, so to speak. When looking for online player projections, or up-to-date news, it's easy to find websites that do the job badly and
hard to find sites that do the job well. Many websites offer services only for a fee, and in view of the dizzying number of sites out there of uncertain
quality, it's very understandable to simply pay for a fantasy draft guide or a site membership while collapsing in exhaustion.
Many websites offer services which we feel have questionable value. We only rank sites for those services which we feel are useful or
enjoyable. The services which we rank for are:
- Player Projections - The single most significant service. The quality of your projections are probably the single most
significant factor in your success or failure in fantasy sports. We believe in finding services for free whenever possible, but if there
is anything you should pay for it would be projections that you know will be good. The problem is that you don't know they'll be
good until you see them, or until the season is over. And we'll definitely take free good projections over paying for good projections.
- Fantasy-oriented News - In order to keep track of events that affect (often strongly affect) player value, it is important to have
a source of news that is broad in scope, insightful as possible, and highly up-to-date. News services vary widely in their ability to deliver useful,
high quality fantasy sports news.
- Articles - Articles are a good supplemental source of fantasy sports news, and can be just plain enjoyable. Well written articles
can make you think, laugh, or make you angry, and the best do all three. There are so many bad fantasy sports writers out there - here we point you
to our favorites.
- Forums - Forums can also be a good source of fantasy news, and are great because you get to be a part of a like-minded community. We're not
huge forum devotees, but you can find almost anything you're looking for in a good forum - advice, news, leagues, rants and raves.
- Leagues - When it comes to leagues, we're in favor of using a site that has a large user base and which is free. Our reasoning is
that you can find good, standard leagues packed with features, with a practically limitless group of potential players who already use the site,
and you can find this for free in more than one location. We rate the best place to have a league here, but you should probably just focus on the
first two.
Note - We're only listing websites with free content. We're of the opinion that you can find most everything for free if you look hard enough,
and it will be of similar if not superior quality to what you can find for a fee. We will include for-fee projections in our player projection
competition, as player projections are especially important and difficult to do well, but otherwise we plan to focus on free content.

| Player Projection Competitions |
It is extremely difficult to evaluate the quality of player projections. You can never really tell whether a set of player projections are very good
until after the season - when you don't really care any more. To help solve this problem, we're taking all of the player projections that we can get our
hands on, keeping them, and then ranking them at the end of the season based on which set of projections came closest to reality. In this way, you will be
able to see which player projection services actually are the best. Past performance is really the best way to tell if the people putting your
projections together are any good at the job. |
